Healthy Relationships

Research studies indicate people with disabilities are at greater risk of experiencing sexual assault in their lifetime than their non-disabled peers. In a unified effort to prevent these harmful incidents from occurring, Independence, Inc. and the Domestic Violence Crisis Center will launch a virtual Healthy Relationships program in August 2020.

The four session program is designed to help North Dakotans with disabilities understand the characteristics of respectful relationships, warning signs of abuse and the importance of consent and boundaries. Healthy relationships curriculum will consist of inclusive lessons, interactive discussions and exciting exercises. Classes will be facilitated by Independence, Inc. and Domestic Violence Crisis Center staff members.
